 Post subject: Dev port: shards

We run a dev port to test changes for those who don't know. Everything there is normal (shard rate etc), but it's been running for so long without people killing mobs for shards... take a look at this.

Oh boy, what fun to fight that boar would be. That's why people should always keep certain mobs in line, like the Enormous Moth in PV. It'd be pretty nasty to have some monsters like that.

This also brings up an idea. Why not have mobiles that gain a certain amount of shards become more intelligent, like... That boar has 20 shards, so have them wander more, attack NPCs and PCs with shards, gash, ect. Making them more 'unique' if you may. According to the show, if a regular animal, like a boar, got their hands on a single shards, they'd become more monstrous, and intelligent, while grow in lust for more shards, for power. So I figure, why not do something similar in BIYG. Idk, whatever works.

I think that is something that could be done in a prog pretty easily.

Oh god turn those with more than 3 shards into shard craving gashing embedding npcs. Although this is an expansion on things I've already put in and would even be a good lead in for future aspects of the mud coughnarakucough

That sounds like a great idea. We see some pretty buff swats from time to time, maybe an overpowered crocodile, but I'd really like to see Rouyokan go bonkers and head toward Haira :P

i think there should be a limit to these things, i know, that would cause a lot of hassle changing every mob to have a shard limit..... but i think it would be a good idea to keep something like that from happening, and maybe have a higher limit on higher level mobs within reason to be able to kill said mob.

There isn't a limit for players, so there isn't a limit for mobs.
