I plan on installing elemental types during the change from alpha to beta. (It requires a pwipe) I need a list of elemental types (each player will be able to select an elemental type on creation) that relate to the IY anime/manga, a description of the element, what it is weak against, and what it is strong against. And any other info.

One element is Wind.

Ok here is the dumbed down basics of four elements. If we add more to this then the weakness and best vs needs to be altered. In addition to this it shouldn't be a blanket statement that fire is totally useless to wind but more so that lesser wind attacks strengthen fire defenses and lesser wind defenses strengthen fire attacks. While strong wind attacks annihilate fire def, strong wind def annihilate fire attacks. In addition each element should be weakest to 1 element, have some weakness to another, have next to no weakness to the other. The more elements we add to the system the more complex it has to get for weaknesses and strengths. Well back to the Basics of the Elements list:

Fire:fire type attacks and defenses, weakness: Wind, best vs: Ice/Water
Ice/Water:ice/water type attacks and defenses, weakness: Fire, best vs: Lightning
Lightning:electrical based attacks and defenses, weakness: Ice/Water, best vs: Wind
Wind: wind based attacks and defenses, weakness: Lightning, best vs: Fire

I like what ryo has goin. Mebbe earth/poison types could be added in, weak against fire, and best vs ice/water. Since in warfare, the best way to get rid of poison is to burn it off, and poison taints water and such.

With this talk of elements, perhaps there could be elemental stones mobs drop randomly, that blacksmiths could embed into your weapon. you could only have one element in a weapon, nonremovable once embedded. could either transform the attack of that weapon into an elemental type, or add an elemental attack to your round.

Elemental types would be an elemental theme to objects, character attacks etc....

Also I'd like to note that skills already have some element flags on them. Made things easier.

Ice and Water should be seperated. Since Ice is weak against Fire, but Water can destroy Fire. Perhaps immunity should be there too.

Let's start figuring this out. I plan to install this before beta, it may be doable.

Here is a possible setup using Fire, Ice, Water, Wind, Lightning, Poison and Shadow
for the elements. There would then be categories for the different types of attacks and defenses that each would have to have. This system won't let it all lineup for some reason but you can still figure out the general idea of what is going on in it.

Element | Fire |Ice |Water |Wind |Lightning|Earth |
------------|----------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
Best Against|Ice |Water |Wind |Fire |Water |Fire |
------------|----------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
Good Against|Water |Earth |Earth |Earth |Ice |Lightning|
------------|----------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
Not so good |Earth |Lightning|Fire |Ice |Wind |Ice |
------------|----------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
Useless |Lightning |Wind |Lightning|Lightning|Earth |Water |
------------|----------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
Feeds |Wind |Wind |Ice |Water |Fire |Wind |
------------|----------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|

In addition to this there would be small special cases that would exist like:
-Strong Fire attacks should overwelm Weak Water.
-Weak Wind should feed Strong Fire.
-Strong Water should overwelm Weak Ice.
-Strong Wind should overwlm Weak Water.
-Strong Fire overwelm Weak Wind.
-Strong Lightning overwelm Weak Fire.

i like ryos chart but id see some elementals in some different ways. i also have some ideas on what some elementals should have at there disposal and what not.

-Fire would have some affect to earth if the earth u mean is plant life and stones and such that actually exsists on the earth

-Water has alot of an affect against fire since we actually use it to stop most fires (usually not ellectical)

-Ice would work well against earth type elementals since it causes them to lay immobal due to freezing.

-wind how is wind feed by ice fire and earth and how would wind be harmd by most elements the way i c it fire would only use up the oxygen in the wind wich would cause the person who controls the wind (if they use the wind from around them and breathe oxygen) to sufficate, if they do not they may use there wind powers to controls the gases in the air they use to attack to contain the fire and kill it off by usiing little oxygen in the gass so the fire cant feed off off them

-earth i have nothing really to say for earth but to be more specific about how it will be so that i can critisize on what would be cool to see in it :twisted: from my point of view

-lightning this would be a interesting element. Would you try to include some
thunder elementals where as if they would work together they may enhance there powers.

also i was wondering if you master your element you would be able to learn the arts of another element like a sub element powers wouldnt be as strong as someone from the element that started with that element, maybe it would bring down the affect of the elements that we wanted o be week against such as starting with a lightning class and subclassing with earth

poison would be a part of the earth element i would think and as for shadow, shadow would not affect many of the current elements we are talking about. so it would not be very good unless you had others to go with it.

i think posion and elementalists would be best if there was a assassins class where they would use they're skills to kill their enemys in a quick unknow fasion or make them suffer withs potent but not overwelming poisons

Thought I'd poke my head out and chip in SOMETHING whilst I'm on the DL:

Five basic Alchemical elements:
Fire
Water
Air
Earth
Life
(didn't anyone here ever watch Captain Planet? :roll: :D )

In addition, there are 'dark' versions of each:
Fire = Ember (Think the Balrog from LotR)
Water = Ice
Air = Lightning
Earth = Dust/Mud/Sludge
Life = Shadow

There's your opposites.

Aside - ~3 more weeks. Then I'm back to torment you all.
