If a task master tells me that my target is in Kaede's Village, it seems that there's about a 1 in 3 chance that the target is nowhere in the specified area (targets in other areas have no problems).

I've had this happen several times a day, and sometimes when no other players are online, so I don't think it's due to interference by other players. I made a map of every room in the village, and meticulously checked each room multiple times.

I'm left with two possible conclusions:

1) There is a hidden room somewhere in Kaede's village, or

2) The code that randomizes the target location sometimes picks an inappropriate vnum

Both seem possible to me, but it's the latter case that I'm worried about.

Haira, Inuyasha's Forest, and the wolf demon area don't seem to have this problem.

Is it specific mobs? What mob?

The last time it happened, it was for the male villager.

All of the mobs/items seem to be affected, though. The prior time was either for either the ore or the package.

Should I use "contact" the next time this happens?

Yeah use Contact. I might not be on, but go ahead just in case someone else is on.

Nope, jobs have a certain degree of randomness to them. The task master tells you the area you have to search for a given job.

Late last night I received a job to find the herb in Kaede's Village, but it wasn't there. Of course, as my luck would have it, all the the imms were gone for the night at the time...

I just now received a job to find the package in Kaede's Village, but it wasn't to be found. I checked every room twice. First bad job today.

Is it only items that can't be found? Or mobs too?

I can't find the package anywhere on the MUD right now. The problem is, once the job expires so does the item. So I can't check it out unless it's during the job.

It was both items and mobs.
