I have reason to doubt that that cannon would be in the material world.

Its not a skill. Its that cannonball That they used to travel to (to avoid a spoiler) that one place.

That cannon ball is just a shield if you can maintain it and it isn't disturbed. You can't move in it really without some force applied to it that doesn't turn it into a bomb. At least from what I saw.

So you have at least a 50% chance of death when dispersing it, while training you have about a 75% of making it a bomb giving you an even higher chance of death, and it doesn't really move on it's own... Real usefulll...
Well, unless you want to be a suicide bomer in a world of mis-placed souls. Because, please note, from what it looked like that cannon ball mainly just worked in some form of spirit form.
