Are any other races planned for the MUD? I wouldn't mind a Kitsune or Tengu.

There will be sub-races right before beta.

Sub-races by me :) : (youkai/hanyou)

 Tier I -
Beast
Monstrous
Spirit

 Tier II-
Beast:
Various animals: Cat, Dog, Panther, Tiger, Wolf, Bird, Fox, etc.

Monstrous:
Various monsters: Dragon, Dinosaur, Giant, Minotaur, Griffin, Ogre, etc. (like the monster Naraku absorbed to get his new body, or demons with monstrous parts like Sesshoumaru's dragon claw)

Spirit:
Various 'spirits': These would be all the non-descript types (like Yura and Naraku)

 Tier III:
Beast: Pick a beast type.

Monstrous: Pick a monster type.

Spirit: Was thinking of having people pick various attribute adjustments, such as variants of size, body parts, etc.

Dunno if Zeno would want to have 'sub-races' for humans. Personally, I think classes are enough to distinguish one from another.

Sub-races for Humans will be "Home era". Feudal or Modern.

I really don't like this Tier thing though.

I just called them 'tiers'. They're really different steps in the creation process that require a selection on the part of the player...but that didn't fit as neatly as a heading. :P

Basically you'd see this (let's make Inuyasha):
Code:
Choose a race: Youkai Hanyou Human (help <race> for more info):
>Hanyou
Choose a subspecies (help <subspecies> for more info): Beastial Monstrous Spirit:
>Beastial
Choose a beastial type: Dog Cat Bear Bird Reptile Amphibian (help <type> for more info):
>Dog
Choose a DOG sub-type (help <subtype> for more info): Wolf Dog Jackal
>Dog

Maybe not with as many choices or with more choices or whatever. It's just the general idea I'm trying to get across.

I like the idea of multiple races, as long as we don't have so many races that people decide to choose the best for fighting, or whatever.

So far as my concept is concerned, anything past type wouldn't have any inherent bonus/detriment to it.

Example: Beastial types would be better survivalists - higher con and dex at loss of str and int.

Monstrous types would be your brawlers - higher con and str in exchange for dex and int

Spirit types (which I'd really like a better name for, personally) would be your schemers - higher int/wis, cha and luck but not as physically fit - minuses to dex, str, and con

However, being a jackal as compared to a wolf dog-type wouldn't change much. You'd still have whatever bonuses you got for being a dog-type. (Beastial +/- dog attributes). Being a wolf or dog would just serve to further distinguish the character for RP purposes, and may have some bearing on starting location (if Zeno decides on more than one) and ability to participate in potential clans (whether coded or just RP-base)

Meh. All I want is one sub-race, not a sub-sub-sub-race.

How would you do that with the way Inuyasha breaks down their demons? This way would at least give racial bonuses beyond what they have now.

I'm just curious as to how you'd set it up. I'm willing to do the work on it (once my area is done of course), but I need to know what YOU have in mind first - otherwise how am I going to try to shoot it down in favor of my system?

It would be something like this
Main Race: Human
Era: Modern, Feudal

Main Race: Hanyou
Type: Dog, Wolf, Worm, Bat,etc... whatever Zeno picks for these

Main Race: Youkai
Type: Dob, Wolf, Worm, Bat, Lizard, Cat...whatever Zeno decides on

Each Race and subrace in my eyes should have different base abilities, Starting with different base stats that all total out to be the same. They could also have it so each race and sub are better or worse at different skills and classes. It all depends on how complex we want to make it. The more complex the harder it is to stablize the game.

We need more customization. Only 3 races isn't enough. And eye/hair color do nothing.

Sub races are coming in we are NOT going to allow you all to just say I'm DRAGON youkai. Dragons were EXTREMELY RARE and they would not be as common as you all make them.

Will players have to submit a written application to become a rare sub-race? Reach a certain level? Contribute something back to the mud? Gain special recognition somehow?

Currently we plan on only offering select sub races and not giving any method to earn/obtain the rare youkai races that existed such as Dragons.
