Okay,I'm trying to learn how to build,and am using this WinSmaug thingy.
I've been "playing" it for awhile,and I have no clue what the heck to do.
And since I can't go to the Institute atm,I really don't know any other way to practice builing.

If anyone has played this winsmaug,please help me figure this out so I can start learning. >.<

Do I want to ask why you can't get to the institute at the moment? Or were you the one we tried for a couple of hours the other night but couldn't get in?

By "WinSmaug thingy", do you mean the Windows port of Smaug that was made a few years back, or SmaugWiz, or something else?

Zeno's right, Gammon's forums are a better idea than here.. so are the forums for SmaugFUSS at www.fussproject.org too. We're both at both of those places as well, but there are a bunch of others there too.

I have no clue as to why I can't get into the institute.I tried figuring out the problem with Zeno,but I doubt my small little brain could grasp as to why. -.-;
I think we tried it like a week ago though...I'm not too sure,and I know it wasn't last night cause I was asleep. o.o;
I honestly checked for viruses,spyware,deleted my cookies,files,and all that,and I still couldn't get there.
And yes,I'm using WinSmaug.I really don't know much about it because I was given it by Mikomi.I honestly have no idea what to do on that thing and it's frustrating the hell outta me. -.-
Right now,I just keep getting stuck at the same place,over and over.I don't even know where I am in that stupid place. ;.;
I just dun know what to dooooooo! T_T
But yeah...I'll head over to that one place.I just came here because this was the only and first place I could think of to go. o.o;

I wasn't saying last night, I said the other night because I don't recall anymore how many nights ago it was. *shrug* ..in any event, I know that I was part of that series of attempts to connect you and don't know what the problem was either, I do know we tried all sorts of things with the firewall here to try to get you to be able to get in. :(

Um, alright, I'm going to just assume then that you mean the version of smaug that was ported to windows a few years back that's available from game.org.

So, you're saying that it's running, just that once you get into it you don't know what to do? Or is there a problem getting it running?

If you are running it fine and just don't know what to do inside the game, you might consider checking out Herne's Building Guide at http://webhome.idirect.com/~helspawn/smaug.html instead or even in addition.

No,that probably wasn't me,because all Zeno did was tell me to trace something and give him the last 4 lines of whatever came up.
We didn't mess with my firewall or anything like that. *shrug*
In that case,I'm thinking of just re-formatting my computer as soon as I can because it's been acting a bit strange.

Yes,it is running very smoothly.No,I don't know what to do.

So,that site that there will tell me where to manuver in that MUD? o.o

What do you mean "where to manuver"? What do you intend to do with what you are running? Build?

I'm just put into a room,and I have no idea where to go next.
I really don't know anything about this MUD I'm "playing".
Well,I'm trying to learn to build in general,cause I want to help build the MUD,but since I don't know anything....it kinda defeats the purpose.

If you want to build, you'll need to become an Immortal first. The FAQ should answer how to do that. If not, save your character, find the file (under the players folder) and change the level to 65.

After doing that, you'll probably want to log back into your mud and start by typing 'goto 1200' then try typing 'wizhelp' to see what commands you now have available to you, then you're going to want to spend some time reading through the help files to learn about those commands, and visiting that link I gave you earlier for Herne's Building Guide to learn a bit of the basics about building. After that, experiment a bit and have some fun. :)
