I never wanted to be squad leader.... ~ Srgt. Matt Baker

First off, this game is rated M. If you don't like seeing people explode and seeing their guts strewn across the open plain, don't play this game. I shouldn't say "like".. Rather, don't mind it. If you liked it, you'd be legally insane.

Now this game is said to be accurate to what war is really like. Since I've never been in a war, I can't say whether it is or not, but some people that were really in the war worked on this game, and that's good enough for me. This epic takes you through the D-Day campaign, based in Normandy, and each map is extremely detailed, as real as being there because the maps are nearly exact replicas of the recon photos from the war.

You are Sargeant Matt Baker, leader of the paratrooper squad (101st "Screaming Eagles"). At the beginning of the game, you'll experience the last moments of the game (flashback). I won't tell you what happens, but it's pretty gruesome. Anyways, after that you'll be dropped in Normandy and the journey will begin.

Once you've got the basics, it's time to be squad leader. During the course of the game, you'll be handed the task to lead your squad to victory. From a single soldier to two squads of four to tanks, it's up to you to make sure that these guys don't get killed. You'll have the same squad throughout the whole game (Until they are otherwise killed) and you'll get to know each and every one of them. For example, you'll come across Allen and Garnett, and they'll make jokes about dead guys and mowing down the crouts (germans). Anyways, it's hard to get at first, but you'll be commanding your squad like a pro in no time. There are two different kinds of squad teams -

You've got your fire team and your suppressive team (I forgot the names, we'll just use that.)

And these are real WWII tactics, people. Like, say, if you wanted to take out a group of enemies, you'd tell your "suppressive team" to .. Well.. Suppress them. Your supp. team will immediately move forward, backward, or to the side to find the best possible cover and begin to fire with their rifles. Of course, it's nearly impossible to hit them from far away (Just like real life) , so then you'll take your fire team and try to flank the said team. Of course those crouts aren't going to stand up once you've pinned them down (which is indicated by the circle above the teams head - red = not suppressed, grey = suppressed). Your fire team is equipped with a standard rifle and a semi-automatic machine gun. Long story short.. DONE.

Sometimes even if you try to throw a grenade into a mass of enemies, they'll pick it up and throw it back at you. Or they'll stand up and get rained with suppressive fire before they get blown up.

Those crouts will do anything they can to make sure you end up dead, and use the same tactics you do.

And unlike many games, if you stand up in front of a machine gun for even a SECOND, your whole squad is DEAD. All I can say is, good luck with those machine guns. The mounted ones.

All the weapons are dramatically accurate, from the .45 Pistol to the german MP40, all models are accurate right down to the.. Accuracy..

Give this game a try if you're feeling disappointed in Call of Duty : Finest Hour or those Medal of Honor games. I swear to god you'll love it if you like these kind of games.

And this is it. Of course, you'll only be with about 8 other men.. Not too alone against about a million nazi's. Which is why it's called "Brothers-in-arms" (not just for the address given by the president, but the fact that if one fell they all did). I'd almost call it a Halo-Killer, myself. But I'm just bored with Halo cuz it sucks.

Yeah, but this is much more realistic in my opinion.. Because.. Well. Vice City's .. Disconfigured stuff isn't near this. You'd have to see it to know what I'm saying.

Well, YOU can't take off their heads (just one leg and an arm with a grenade) , but in a few scenes (Like we'll take one for example), you'll see a parachuter that missed his landing lying on a table with blood dripping on the sides (This is in the middle of a town FYI) , with disconfigured limbs and such. This game doesn't have that unrealistic "I just took off his head, cool" thing. No, no. On this one scene after a bomber dropped one on a squad of soldiers, you'll be looking at it and see this heap, wondering "Uhh.. That's fu*ked up." You'd have to see it while you're playing if you try to "get into it."
